Coat Checks
EMS recently had a school dance. Ms. Doris Cheque worked
the coat room. When the students first came in, they lined up in an
orderly fashion and handed their jackets to Ms. Cheque to hang up
in the coat room for fifty cents per jacket. In return, Ms. Cheque
gave each student a ticket stub.
At the end of the dance, Sally, being the nice girl that she is, took four of her friend’s stubs and her own stub and went to get their jackets. Ms. Cheque received the stubs from Sally and randomly handed the jackets to Sally and her friends one at a time. What are the chances that Sally and each friend was handed her own jacket from Ms. Cheque.
