VCTM Annual Fall Meeting

Members Present:   Nancy Pejouhy, President;  Roberta Cota, Secretary and Webperson;  Harvie Porter, Membership Chair and ATMNE Representative;  Bob Chaffee, Treasurer; Jean McKenny, Zone 2 Representative; Nancy Pejouhy, Zone 6 Representative; Stacey Anthony, Will Wright, Zone 3 Representatives; Barbara Unger; Zone 5 Representative; Anthony Pezzulo, High School Representative;  Mary Calder, Elementary School Representative;  David Rome, Newsletter; and Tim Whiteford, Higher Education Representative; Others:  Jill Wilkins and Paula Dolan, as well as a few other members, were present.

The meeting was called to order at 12:40 p.m.

Secretary’s Report:  Moved by Jean McKenny and seconded by Tim Whiteford            to accept the Secretary’s Annual Report of October 20, 2006.  Motion was approved by unanimous vote.

Treasurer’s Report:   The treasurer’s report was distributed by Bob Chaffee and discussed.    Moved by Anthony Pezzulo and seconded by Barbara Unger to approve the Treasurer’s Report dated October 18, 2007.      Net worth is $22,489.22.

Nancy Pejouhy asked for ideas to sponsor possibly giving out scholarships to VCTM members go to the NCTM conference.  Harvie Chaffee suggested sponsoring a student at the Govenor’s Institute for UVM; Mary Calder suggested offering honorariums for guest speakers, etc.   It was also suggested by Jean McKenny to put extra money into increasing our membership by offering mini-grants for the adult members, etc..   Mileage, lunch and honorariums for speakers, etc. at future conferences was also suggested.   Bob increased the spring conference fees from $2000 from $1400 in the estimated 2008 budget.

Motion was approved by Andrew Pezzulo and seconded by Harvie Porter to accept the budget with changes.  Motion was approved by unanimous vote.

Harvie Porter and Anthony Pezzulo cast one ballet.  Motion was approved unanimously.

Agenda for next meeting should include spending money for scholarships, etc.

The Spring Conference will be held at St. Michael’s College on Thursday, March 20, 2008.    Tim Whiteford possible topic for spring conference, Speaking, Reading and Writing Mathematics.

Jean McKenny suggested that because the president and secretary have to be NCTM members, because we have to be an affiliated with NCTM that VCTM should consider paying their membership to NCTM.

Moved by Jean McKenny and seconded by Mary Calder to have VCTM pay for the memberships for both the secretary and president.  Motion was approved by unanimous vote.

The next VCTM meeting will be held January 16, 2008, at Randolph at 3:30 p.m.  The 3:30 to 5:00 pm portion of the meeting is the “retreat part” for officers able to be there at 3:30.  The official meeting starts at 5:00 pm.

Moved by Harvie Porter and seconded by Barbara Unger to adjourn the meeting at        1:40 p.m.  Motion was approved by unanimous vote.
