VCTM Board Meeting

Members Present: Nancy Pejouhy, President; Jean McKenny, Zone 2 Representative; Barbara Unger, President Elect & Zone 5 Representa-tive; Harvie Porter, Membership Chair and ATMNE Representative; Roberta Cota, Secretary; Mary-Anne Johnson, Zone 6 Representative; High School Representative; Tim Whiteford, Higher Education Repre-sentative; Mary Calder, Elementary Representative; and Robert Kenney, Co-Newsletter Editor.
The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m.
Nancy Pejouhy opened the meeting by reading proposals for presenters for the Spring Conference. Possible presenters were:
Pat Jaquith: Math for All Learners
Loree Silvis: Language & Early Number Sense
John Tapper: What does Math for all learners really mean?
Nancy Kent: Graphic Organizer
Tim Whiteford

Secretary’s Report: Moved by Jean McKenny and seconded by Timothy Whiteford to accept the Secretary’s Report of September 7, 2006. Motion was approved by unanimous vote.
Treasurer’s Report: The treasurer’s report discussed at length. Bob had to switch types of accounts. Both Bob Chaffee and Harvie Porter are listed as signatories on the account which is at Citizen’s Bank in Essex Junction. The current mileage for board members is $0.30 per miles. Moved by Barbara Unger and seconded by Mary Calder to approve the Treasurer’s Report dated January 11, 2007. Motion was approved by unanimous vote.
Standing Committees:
MEMBERSHIP: Harvie stated that we were at 185 and now we are at 55, so he is sending out reminder notices.
HIGHER EDUCATION REPORT: Nancy Pejouhy stated that Tim Whiteford has started putting together a list-serve for high school teachers interested in getting information on students with special needs which he will share with the group later.
ATMNE REPORT: Harvie distributed posters for the spring conference in 2007 in Massachusetts on November 8 and 9, 2007, in Springfield. Harvie stated that he realized that when volunteering for the ATMNE position he didn’t realize there was a conflict as being the SAT administrator and the meeting is always held the first week in May which would be a conflict every year for him. Harvie stated that he would continue to be an ATMNE representative and see if he can continue to either attend meetings or find someone else to represent him when he is unable to attend.
NCTM REPORT: March 21-23 in Atlanta, Georgia, for the NCTM conference. Moved by Barbara Unger and seconded by Harvie Porter to approve one night’s stay for the NCTM conference. Motion was approved by unanimous vote. Jean McKenny will attend the conference.
NEWSLETTER: Nancy had asked Robert Kenney to hold off the Newsletter until we had more information on the spring conference. January 26th is the newsletter deadline. After the discussion, it was decided that the 10th of March would be deadline for signing up for the Spring conference. Bob is going to try to get the newsletter out the first week in February.
PAEMST REPORT: No report at this time.
Math Coalition: Bob announced that the annual meeting and banquet will be held on May 1, 2007, at the Waterman Bldg. at UVM.
New Business:
Possible Fall Spring Conference Theme – Introduction to New Programs.
Roberta talked about redoing the VCTM website and asked for input from board members on what they would like to see on the new site.
The next VCTM meeting will be held Montpelier on May 10, 2007, at Vermont Institutes in Montpelier at 5:00 p.m.
Moved by Harvie Porter and seconded by Barbara Unger to adjourn the meeting at 7:40 p.m. Motion was approved by unanimous vote.
