The meeting was called to order at 5:20 p.m.

Secretary’s Report:  Moved by Bob Chaffee and seconded by Harvie Porter to accept the Secretary’s Report of January 11, 2007.  Motion was approved by unanimous vote.

Treasurer’s Report:   The treasurer’s report was discussed at length.    Bob stated that we received a $600 rebate from the ATMNE Fall Conference.   He also reported that we have an $11 profit from the VCTM Spring Conference.   There was discussion on increasing the fee to future conferences by $5 to non-members.  This would be an incentive for non-members to renew before the conferences and not at the conference.   He also reported that we have a CD coming due and that he wasn’t very happy with the current bank interest and would be looking into a new bank to reinvest our money.

Moved by Andrew Pezzulo and seconded by Mary Calder to approve the Treasurer’s Report dated January 11, 2007.  Motion was approved by unanimous vote.

Standing Committees

MEMBERSHIP:    Harvie stated that we were at 133 members and are currently at 55, so he is sending out reminder notices to current non-members.

HIGHER EDUCATION REPORT:   Tim reported that he met with a group of ESL and Special Educators coordinators on April 19 to discuss math and diversity.   There will be a course offered this summer on Math and Diversity at St. Michael’s College.

ATMNE REPORT:  Jean stated that she attended the ATMNE meeting last week and reported that MathWest pulled out of sponsoring the 2007 ATMNE conference.   The next ATMNE Conference will be at the Holiday Inn in Springfield, Massachusetts.  There was some concern by ATMNE that they have not received any money or a final report from the ATMNE Killington Conference.   The next ATMNE meeting is November 7, 2007, in Springfield.  A committee was set up to reaffirm the 60/40 split between ATMNE and each of the states.

NCTM REPORT:  Jean was the delegate at the NCTM Conference in Atlanta for VCTM.   There were three items that came up at the conference

·        Jean stated that if  65% of the VCTM members were also NCTM members, then you were part of the inner circle.

·        It was suggested that the meeting be held after dinner and not at 2:00 p.m., so members didn’t have to come in a day early;

·        New Hampshire sponsored an amendment dealing with asking NCTM for input as they develop a high school document similar to the focal points.  This recommendation was forwarded to the NCTM board by the delegate assembly.

NEWSLETTER:   The deadline for the next newsletter will be September 7, 2007, to go out later in September.
